The Electronic System for Travel Authorization, also known as "ESTA", is an application system developed by the USA government to pre-screen travelers before they are allowed to travel to the United States via air or sea. An approved ESTA Travel Authorization can be used for both visits and transits through the United States.

Citizens of the 39 Visa Waiver Countries may travel to the United States without a visa. There are certain restrictions in the Visa Waiver Program, however the main advantage is that no visa is required to travel to the United States. If you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver Country you can apply only for a "Travel Authorization" through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization, commonly known as "ESTA". This program enables visits to the United States for up to 90 days for tourism, business or medical reasons without the need to apply for a USA visa.
